
For the first time in a general election, the Sweden Democrats lost ground which paved the way for the Red-Green opposition to secure a majority. In other words, the people rejected the idea of allowing the populist nationalist party into a right-wing government. All that remains is to form a new government. Well, only that? The worst fears were immediately realized. With a rigid and dour Andersson leading the Social Democrats, a Left Party in crisis, and an hard-mouthed Centre Party leader, everything is at a standstill. The only leader radiating any sense of optimism and commitment to the task is Amanda Lind of the Green Party—but that alone is not enough.
